AT LEAST 128 sikad-sikad drivers went to a surprise drug test conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Iligan City last February 10.
Upon the call of local authorities, the drivers were quick to gather at a gymnasium in Barangay Villaverde here believing that they would be attending just another meeting.
However, they were surprised to know the presence of PDEA agents and members of Iligan City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, who ordered them to fill small plastic containers with their urine samples.
After the drug tests, two sikad-sikad drivers were found positive and were stripped of their permit to operate their tricycles.
The two drivers also agreed to undergo community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program.
Under the law, nobody can be subjected to Drug Rehabilitation Program without his or her consent.
