KIDAPAWAN CITY –– About 250 families and 20 employees of Energy Development Corporation (EDC) in Barangay Ilomavis here were stranded last night due to the landslide Landslides have been reported in 701 Purok 7, Road to EDC, Purok 6A Sudsowayan, Purok 7B Bowkanon, and Purok 5 Sitio Anggie, Barangay Llomavis, causing partial to total road blockade.as tropical depression Dante hit the province.
Following Gov. Nancy A. Catamco’s mandate for immediate action on the incident, Kidapawan City Acting Provincial Engr. Jun Doyongan and BM Dr. Philbert Malaluan responded and went on site visit in Barangay Llomavis, where landslides brought down areas heavily affected by long-hours of rain.
Barangay Captain Jimmy Mantawil said, about 250 families were stranded due to the incident. Hence, Mantawil added that no casualties have been recorded as there was less movement of people around the vicinity due to No Movement Sunday protocols.
Meanwhile, Mantawil stated that among those stranded are approximately 20 employees of the Energy Development Corporation, a geothermal plant company located in one of the barangay’s most remote villages near the foot of Mt. Apo.
The Provincial Government has already secured a fleet of rescue vehicles as well as some heavy equipment required to remove roadblocks and clear passageways.
Moreover, the BPAT security fronliners of Llomavis have already been alerted to stay on-duty to assist those affected by the landslide.
Emergency hotlines through the City or Municipal Disaster Relief and Management Office (C/MDRRMO) and the Provincial Disaster Relief and Management Office (PDRRMO) have posted numbers 09100101110 as contact details for those in need while bad weather conditions continue.
Those involved in rescue operations are exempted and thus permitted to operate on No Movement Sundays, as specified in Section 18 of the Provincial Executive Order 29 Series of 2021.-Editha Z. Caduaya
