3 drug suspects face charges in Zamboanga City

The Zamboanga City Police Office has filed charges against three suspected drug pushers after a buy-bust on March 15 that yielded more than P1 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or Shabu.

Police Station 7 chief Police Major Jamar Tagayan said that the police conducted three weeks of surveillance operations against the suspects before the actual operation.

“We conducted the operation after a surveillance against the subjects and when we found the opportunity, we did a transaction (buy-bust), where we arrested three individuals,” Tagayan said.

The buy-bust took place in Maestra Vicente, Barangay Sta. Maria where police recovered five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 64.69 grams worth PHP 1,119, 892.00, and fifty-nine pieces of P1, 000.00 and a bill of P500.00 as marked money.

Charges for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article 2 of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 were filed against the arrested suspects.

Arrested in the operation were Ibno Hassan Madisa, 53-year old and a fisherman; Mohammad Jammang Alih, 24 and a habal-habal driver, both residents of Barangay Tapul, Jolo, Sulu, and Richard Aballe Salinas, 29 and a resident of Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City.

Tagayan said that the buy-bust was the largest haul in the last seven months.

Mayor John Dalipe commended the police for the successful operations against illegal drugs in the city.
