37-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – A man aged 37 was fatally shot by an unidentified person in Davao City. The victim, Jay Jagunos, a resident of Talisay, Mintal Relocation, originally from Trento, Agusan del Sur, was killed on Arella Street in what seems to be a targeted attack.

The incident took place around 4:00 PM. Despite receiving immediate medical attention and being transported to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), Jagunos succumbed to his injuries at around 5:00 PM. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.

The San Pedro Police Station has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, aiming to uncover any possible connections, threats, or adversaries that may have led to the victim’s unfortunate death. The authorities are determined to discover the underlying motives behind this act.

Eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported hearing three consecutive gunshots and observed an armed male suspect committing the crime before quickly fleeing the scene. The police are actively pursuing leads and appealing to the public for any information that could help in identifying and apprehending the suspect.

During the initial examination of the crime scene, two bullet casings believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol were recovered by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team. These crucial pieces of evidence will undergo careful analysis as the investigation progresses.

The police are closely cooperating with the family, preparing for an autopsy to determine the number and trajectory of the fatal gunshot wounds. This crucial step will provide essential details about the incident.

The community remains on high alert, and residents are urged to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. Pol.Capt. Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), emphasizes the importance of community involvement, encouraging the public to come forward with any information, regardless of its perceived significance. Every detail could contribute to solving the case and bringing justice to the victim and his family.

As the investigation unfolds, the DCPO is tirelessly working to identify potential witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The police hope that these efforts will help unravel the sequence of events leading to the shooting and identify the person responsible for Jay Jagunos’ death.
