3rd grand Perangat Festival celebrated with vibrancy and excitement in Misamis Occidental

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental – The rain failed to dampen the vibrant and lively streets of Oroquieta City, as the province celebrated the 3rd Grand Perangat Festival with grandeur and excitement.

The festival, held in commemoration of the 95th founding anniversary of the province, featured colorful parades, traditional dances, and a showcase of Misamis Occidental’s rich cultural heritage, attracting crowds from near and far.

Throughout the week-long celebration, the provincial government offered a variety of services and programs covering agriculture, health, and social services for the residents.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal expressed that the festival embodies the spirit of Misamismon, stating, “It is a testament to our culture and rich historical identity. We aim to showcase that while we thrive in the digital age, we have also preserved our resources, and with the blessings we enjoy, our celebrations must be grand.”

During the festival, both locals and tourists were captivated by presentations featuring traditional attire, mesmerizing dances, and intricate arts and crafts, highlighting the distinct heritage of Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga-Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Misamis Oriental.

Despite the rain, spectators ventured out to witness the performances, as contingents displayed their unique cultural identities representing their provinces.

Donning their cultural heritage, the street performers danced to the rhythmic beats of traditional music, captivating the audience with their skill and grace. The palpable energy and enthusiasm showcased a spirit of unity and celebration.

Visitors and locals alike indulged in local delicacies, participated in traditional games, and admired the craftsmanship of local artisans during the festival. The 3rd Grand Perangat Festival provided a unique and immersive experience that celebrated the essence of Misamis Occidental.
