4 killed, 1 Injured in South Cotabato shooting

DAVAO CITY — Four relatives were killed and one was injured in a shooting incident in Barangay Dumadalig, Tantangan, South Cotabato, around 10 PM last Sunday.

According to Tantangan Chief of Police Major Erika Vallejo, the suspect entered the victims’ compound and opened fire while they were drinking. The investigation revealed that a man arrived at the compound owned by Marlon Yuarata in Purok 5 Luayon, Barangay Dumadalig, carrying a 5.46mm assault rifle. He used the weapon to kill the victims while they were singing on a videoke machine.

The police identified the deceased as Jerry Yuarata, Ronald Vallespin, Argie Villaronte, and Marco Combiz, all farmers living in the area. Another farmer and relative, Freddie Tabamo, was injured in the incident.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) are still investigating to determine the identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the shooting.
