40 High-Powered firearms surrendered to military in Maguindanao del Sur

DAVAO CITY (April 28) —Forty (40) high-powered firearms surrendered to the military at the 601st Infantry Brigade in Barangay Kamasi, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on April 26, 2025.

The surrendered firearms came from the municipalities of Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Shariff Aguak, Mamasapano, Sultan sa Barongis, and Datu Abdullah Sangki in Maguindanao del Sur.

Among the surrendered weapons were seven M14 rifles, six M16 rifles, five Garand Cal.30 rifles, two Ultimax 5.56mm rifles, two Bushmaster 5.56mm rifles, two Carbine 5.56mm M4 rifles, and two improvised M79s.

Also turned over were a 60mm mortar, an M203 grenade launcher, and an improvised 12-gauge shotgun.

This is the result of the intensified campaign against loose firearms and the positive response of local government units (LGUs) to the military’s efforts.

The LGUs formally presented the firearms to military officials.

According to the 6th Infantry Division, the campaign to reduce the number of loose firearms in the region will continue.
