COTABATO CITY – The People’s Palace in Cotabato City became the venue for the opening of the 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, spearheaded by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office from the Office of the Social Welfare and Development Officer, under the leadership of OIC Asrap Abubakar. The event commenced on July 17 and will run until July 23, 2023.
Aligned with Presidential Proclamation No. 1870, s. 1979, as amended by the Presidential Competition Commission (PCC), the week-long celebration carries the theme “Person with Disabilities Accessibility and Rights: Towards a Sustainable Future where No One is Left Behind.” The program began with a motorcade followed by various activities held at the Cotabato City Central Pilot School (CCCPS).
City Administrator Abdulwahab Midtimbang conveyed a message on behalf of Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” dela Cruz Matabalao, expressing gratitude to the organizers of the event for providing a platform and opportunity for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to showcase their abilities.
The administration’s principle of “Para sa Lahat” (For All) highlights the city’s commitment to inclusive progress, recognizing that true development cannot be achieved if certain sectors are neglected or left behind. It emphasizes that every individual in our society, regardless of their status, should feel the positive impact of change and progress.
