5.6 Magnitude quake jolts Davao Occidental

DAVAO CITY — A 5.6 magnitude earthquake of tectonic origin jolted parts of Southern Mindanao at around 8:24 Thursday evening, December 5.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) located the quake at 169 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.

Intensity III – Glan, Malapatan and Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity II – General Santos City; Koronadal City and Tampakan, South Cotabato

Instrumental Intensities:
Intensity IV – Malungon, Sarangani
Intensty II – General Santos City; Tupi, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani
Intensity I – Gingoog City

AS of this publication, no damage was reported

Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.
