ISABELA CITY (July 24) — Fifty-two children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) found a space to learn, connect, and build confidence as they joined a program focused on helping them navigate the challenges of growing up while their parents work abroad.

The children took part in the half-day OFW Family Circle program on Tuesday, July 21, at Claret College of Isabela, where they explored topics on financial responsibility, mental wellness, resilience, and building positive relationships.

Through interactive discussions, learning sessions, and group activities, the young participants were encouraged to develop practical skills, share experiences, and connect with other children who understand what it is like to have a parent working overseas.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Zamboanga Peninsula said the program gave the children an opportunity to learn and further develop themselves while strengthening their relationships with peers.

“Through learning sessions, interactive discussions, and group activities, the youth were given the opportunity to learn, connect with others, and further develop themselves,” the agency said Thursday, July 23.

For children of OFWs, the program also served as a reminder that their own growth and well-being matter—not only the sacrifices their parents make abroad.

OWWA-Zamboanga Peninsula said every OFW child has the potential to grow into a responsible citizen and contribute to a stronger future.

It said activities like the OFW Family Circle are designed to support children’s growth, nurture their dreams, and equip them with knowledge and resilience as they face the challenges of everyday life.

The agency thanked the Federation Officers and Claret College of Isabela for helping make the activity possible.
