82k Americans tested positive for COVID-19, 3.3 million filed insurance for jobless aid

DAVAO CITY — The United States has surpassed the records of China and Italy, having 82,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus pandemic, this is according to the statement released by the Johns Hopkins University. America registers more than 1,170, according to the same source.

Last week, over 3.3 million Americans filed a claim for jobless aid. Pandemics are not new in the world, history will tell us: In 2003 SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak which resulted in more than  8,000 cases across 26 countries; In 2009 as many researchers were focusing on H5N7, a version of the influenza virus that is widespread in poultry, a swine-related flu known H1N1 was reported in California.

On March 26, the World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on Heads of State at today’s extraordinary G20 Leaders’ Summit focused on COVID-19. The G20 is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union.

He told G20 leaders “You have come together to confront the defining health crisis of our time: We are at war with a virus that threatens to tear us apart – if we let it”. The WHO report said, during the meeting Ghebreyesus urged the leaders initiative to find joint solutions and work together: “This is a global crisis that requires a global response.
