DAVAO CITY (May 15) — A candidate for barangay captain succumbed to cardiac arrest while the official counting of ballots was on going, Monday night May 14, 2018.
Amilbangsa Manding, a candidate for barangay captain in Barangay 23-C , complained of chest pain after casting his vote at about 3:00 in the afternoon, just minutes before the polling precint closed.
His family brought him to a hotel to rest, but Manding had a cardiac arrest at about 5 :00 in the afternoon while resting. He was reportedly brought to a local hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
It can be recalled, that violence marked the last night of the campaign for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in said barangay.
The war between rival candidates, reelectionist Allimodin Usman and his rival Manding has turned violent, which resulted to the injury of three people Sunday night.
Usman told Newsline.Ph “Baka na stress si Amil, nag check-in daw sa Red Planet at doon inatake.”
According to Usman, Manding’s body was immediately transported to Tamparan Lanao del Sur.
Manding, was running against reelectionist Barangay Captain Usman.
Usman was reelected with 3, 175 votes while Manding garnered 2,233 votes. He was once sit at the Davao City Council, he represented the Liga ng mga Barangay .-ezc/newsline.ph
