Cargo truck vs. passenger van: 19 hurt

MAKILALA, North Cotabato  (June 18) – At least 19 persons were injured when a Toyota Hi-Ace commuter van collided  with a cargo truck, the incident took place along the  Makilala-M’lang highway here at  about 4:00 in the morning today.

The Makilala PNP said involved in the mishap that occurred in front of Doong Maternity Clinic was a cargo truck (RHT-548) driven by Rico Altabarino, resident of Barangay Kimaganog, Midsayap, North Cotabato and a passenger van driven by Milagro Soberano of Mlang, North Cotabato.

The van loaded with passengers was heading to Davao City while the cargo truck was en route to Mlang, North Cotabato.

Traffic investigators said the van reportedly over took vehicle and collided with the on coming cargo truck.

Aside from truck and van drivers, also injured were Rowel Biason, Jenifer Patron,22, Vichie Islabon, Gigato Judieza, 20, Benryll de Leon, 19, Dolly Cobita, 37, Magbilin Jr, 47, Al D. Sudang, 19, Offelia Pulido, 57, Ellen Vira Belvis, 34, Rose May Tayontong, 24, Chervie C. Bantoy, 29, Archie Janea, 31, Riezeveel Janea,32, Zander Von Bislon, 25, George Bascon, 25 and May Rose Catone, 28, all of Mlang, North Cotabato. –Edwin O. Fernandez/Newsline.ph
