DAVAO CITY (August 30)- The Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board -11 (LTFRB -11) has distributed its Pantawid Pasada cash cards for the public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers in Davao City.

LTFRB chairperson Martin Delgra led the distribution of  4,463 cards to the PUJ operators at GSIS Subdivision in Matina.  He said the operators were the ones who claimed the cash cards because one of the requirements is the valid franchise of their units.  The cards will be handed to their drivers which will be used for the daily fuel purchase.

This year alone, the government allocated P1 billion to subsidize the fuel expenses of jeepney drivers who were affected with the oil increase due to the implementation of Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.

He said each cash card has a P5,000 aid for the whole year and will be only used for fuel purchase on their driven jeepney.  Delgra said the card has the name of the operator and the plate number of the PUJ where the designated gasoline station will be monitoring.

For every liter purchased,  the amount will be deducted from the account of the  plate number indicated in the cash card.

Davao City was among the nine regions where a total of 46,823 cash cards were distributed.  Armando B. Fenequito/ NewsLine
