Duterte delivers promise, provides 250 new vehicles for BJMP

DAVAO CITY (September 28) — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in various areas of the country were provided  250 new transport vehicles for the transport of inmates.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday turned over 250 keys for to Deogracias Tapayan, BJMP director at Camp General Vicente Lim, Calamba, Laguna.

Duterte said he fulfilled his promise that he will provide new vehicles BJMP, “I am pleased to be with you today for the ceremonial turnover of the second batch of newly-procured prisoners’ vans that I promised to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology when I visited Camp Bagong Diwa in October last year.  Here, you have it now.”

The first batch of these vans, a total of 50 units, were already delivered last July. The entire package is completed with the turnover of 250 vans that were provided to all BJMP regional offices.

Duterte said that it is part of the continuing effort to improve the operations of BJMP, enhance public safety in the transportation of prisoners and provide the detainees with humane and dignified correctional facilities.

To ensure the safety of prison personnel, Duterte expressed his desire to acquire a small plane for transferring high-profile detainees.-Jian A. Padillo/NewsLine.ph
