5 Cabinet members eye 2019 elections

DAVAO CITY (October 10) — Five Cabinet members  will run for  for public office come 2019 midterm elections, said President Rodrigo Duterte  on Tuesday.

Duterte in a press conference after administering the  oath of Malacañang Press Corps officers at Malacañang Palace identified the upcoming candidates as:  Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, his Special Assistant Christopher “Bog” Go, Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, Spokesperson Harry Roque, Presidential Assistant Francis Tolentino and, Technical  Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director Guiling Mamondiong. .

Duterte said Cayetano might run for congressman in his hometown in Taguig City.

“I’m sure there will be guys running. Castriciones, (of) DAR and Harry Roque, I think is really running,” Duterte said.

Presidential Legal Adviser Salvador Panelo,  will replace Roque, Go will be replaced by a lawyer from Davao.

Duterte said he has  Cayetano’s successor but he cannot reveal the name since the upcoming appointee has yet to talk to the  family,

Panelo will soon lead the Office of the Press Secretary.

Duterte confirmed his plan to revive the Office of the Press Secretary and  Panelo will  lead the office.

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) wil be under the OPS.

Duterte said Secretary Martin Andanar  will be appointed as “consultant” because there are “so many things they have to reconfigure in PTV4.”-ezc/NewsLine
