First OFW hospital to rise in Pampanga

DAVAO CITY (May 2) —The country’s first Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) hospital and diagnostic center will soon rise in Barangay Sindalan, Pampanga.

Labor Secretary SIlvestre Bello and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo together with Governor Lilia Pineda yesterday led the the groundbreaking ceremony for the facility. yesterday May 1

The OFW hospital and diagnostic center will sit on a two-hectare property owned by the provincial government of Pampanga.

Arroyo during the interview said the project was conceived by Pineda.

The construction of the hospital will cost P400-million, business mogul Enrique Anselmo Klar Razon Jr. of Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels, will shoulder the costs.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will provide hospital equipment worth PHP200 million, with full support from the Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Health and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Arroyo said lawmakers from Central Luzon should sponsor a law which that woulld enable the national government to fund the operation and the maintenance of the hospital.

The hospital is expected to be operational in 2022.-NewsLine.ph
