COTABATO CITY — A banana firm on Tuesday donated 200 garbage bins to the provincial government of North Cotabato.

Luis Felipe Sancho, director of the Delinanas Development Corporation (DDC), a subsidiary of Del Monte Incorporated of Tacurong City, turned over their donation to Governor Nancy Catamco.

Sancho said the donation is their way to help preserve the environment and keep the surroundings clean.

The DDC maintains a 340-hectare banana plantation in Tulunan, North Cotabato that provides a livelihood to local farmers and employment to more than 200 residents.

“I appreciate your donation as it will help make our offices clean,” Catamco told Sancho during a meeting at the governor’s office.

Catamco said she plans to distribute the bins to different offices situated inside the capitol grounds in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City.

She added, the bins will be used in the solid waste management program of the province, particularly in the segregation program.-Edwin O. Fernandez
