Davao implements tough checkpoint procedure

DAVAO CITY — Travellers entering the city should brace of a tougher security procedure in all checkpoints here.

This, after the Tuesday the explosions in Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat.

Task Force Davao commander Colonel Consolito Yecla on Wednesday said they adopted a ” triple” security measures since the start of Kadayawan early this month and it is being implemented until now.

Yecla said the order stands still, secure and protect the city from all kinds of threat.

Davao City Police director Colonel Alexander Tagum said the city has been in full alert status and “We have deployed a larger number of security forces on the ground to check on any threat in our city. “

On Tuesday, an improvised bomb that went off in Barangay Reina Regente of Datu Piang, Maguindanao, government troops were conducting security operation at around 1 p.m. when anti-personnel mine exploded hitting Pfc. Narciso B. Monreal on his legs and stomach and Sgt. Archie Dema-ala on his arms.

Another mine exploded in Barangay Brar, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao Tuesday evening although no one was reported hurt during the blast.-NewsLine.ph
