Quake demolish Padada town marker-the Tower

DAVAO CITY —Aside from damaged buildings, houses and still undetermined number of casualties, Padada town in Davao del Sur lost its marker-an old water tank they call a tower.

A worker who was among those who work for the rehabilitation of the damaged tank was reportedly killed when the tank collapsed last Sunday, December 15, as magtinude 6.9 earthquake shook their town.

Joyce Calero Tiongco, who hails from Padada in an interview with NewsLine said “if you say Padada, the marker is the tower–it used to be an old water tank.”

The tower located near the public cemetery has been there for decades.

Unconfirmed reports claim seven workers were doing repair job on Sunday when the strong quake caused the collapse of the tower, one worker was reportedly killed.
