Customs intercepts P28-M shabu inside a luggage

DAVAO CITY — Bureau of Customs arrested a Thai national who tried to smuggle illegal drugs ‘shabu’ amounting to P28-million inside his luggage..

Pakjira Janwong, Thai, arrived on February 3 at around 3:00 a.m via Flight no. Z2 288. He was arrested after his luggage passed the immigration x-ray scanner at the NAIA terminal 3 which yielded images of suspected drugs which turned to be illegal drugs.

The physical and laboratory examinations of the luggage by Customs personnel , Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and NAIA Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) confirmed the suspicion that the white crystalline substances concealed under a false bottom lining were Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or Shabu.

The suspect and the seized drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for filing of charges and further investigation. The suspect shall face charges for the possible violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
