OZAMIZ CITY — Eleven of the 183 city government employees here were tested positive in a rapid test for Coronavirus-19 which started on Tuesday, June 23.
Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal said the employees who were tested positive in the rapid test underwent a swab test on Wednesday to confirm the earlier result.
Staff and employees of SM Lao Hospital and the City Health Officer also underwent the test given their exposure to people being a frontliner.
Oaminal earlier said he anticipated this development, a reason he pushed for rapid testing among employees.
With the result, Oaminal said people should no worry as the city strictly follows the health protocol.
He, however, asked the people to pray for everyone’s safety given the extent of the pandemic.
Strictly following health protocol, according to Oaminal, is the key to everyone’s safety and above all, hygiene.
Everyone must wear a face mask, observe physical distancing when going out of their houses and frequent handwashing.
He encouraged everyone, to stay at home if they have nothing important to work outside.
Department of Health 10 regional director Adriano Suba-an earlier said, the rapid test will serve as a guide and the swab test will be the confirmatory test, and there is no need to panic.-Expedita Roxas
