Davao region registers highest single-day COVID-19 case

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Health XI reported new coronavirus-19 cases on Saturday, August 8, recording a high of 52 cases.

The record is the highest single-day increase in cases since March, which brings the total active cases to 499.

The total recorded Covid-19 case in the region has now reached 1,522, but only 499 are active.

Of these 52 new cases, 24 are from Davao Oriental, ten are from Davao del Sur, six each from Davao City and Davao de Oro, five are from Davao del Norte, and one from Davao Occidental.

The DOH also reported 38 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 968.

Among the new recoveries, 22 are from Davao City; seven (7)from Davao Oriental; six (6)from Davao del Norte; two (2)from Davao del Sur; and, one (1) from Davao de Oro.

Of these new cases, 31 are Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI), one (1) is a Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF), two (2) are for further verification, while 18 are local cases.

A total of 627 persons were tested today, of which 55 were tested positive for COVID-19.

Three of the 55 persons who tested positive today were from the other regions, thus, these cases will be added to their respective regional statistics on cases.-Newsline.ph
