DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night has ordered the Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rey Guerrero to shape up as corruption in his agency remains a problem.

During the Monday night meeting of the Inter-Agency task Force, it was said that Duterte had long warned Guerrero about the movement of his personnel, yet, his seeming neglect for prompt action.

Duterte who called Guerrero by his nickname ‘Jagger’ said “Si Jagger kasi tutal mapag-usapan lang naman natin, there were times that he relied more on than sa — relied more on people who were already old hands there. Eh ‘di napasok siya sa — sa bulsa”.

Guerrero was even informed that drugs are still smuggled in the country. “Sinabi ko sa kanya straight, drug is still flowing inside the country sa Customs. Sabi ko, gusto ko sana sabihin kanina na, ‘di ba naghingi man ‘yan siya ng baril? Sabi ko, I approved the purchase of firearms, and until now wala ka napatay ni isa? So sabi ko sa kanya, shape up!”

Duterte said there are people around the Customs who offered to help Guerrero to protect their interest and not to cleanse the agency, “And when they gain your confidence, he relies on what they say until you would believe that they are doing the right thing,” Duterte stressed.

“Kaya sabi ko sa kanya, sabi ko diretso — ang droga pumapasok pa rin. Gusto ko pumatay ka diyan ng… Tutal back up-an kita, hindi ka makulong. Basta droga, barilin, patayin mo. Iyan ang usapan eh. Tsk.”

(I told him straight, drugs still penetrate, I want you to kill … anyway, I will back you up, you cannot be jailed for drugs! that was already discussed..tsk)

Despite his lapses, Duterte still vouched that Guerrero is not corrupt.-Newsline.ph
