BFAR Supports NCIP’s Consultation with IPs

DAVAO CITY–The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) together with the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) conducted an Inter-Agency Visitation and Consultation to the different Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC)/Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Mindanao.

The visitation targets to get first- hand knowledge on how the ICCs/IPs are coping with COVID-19 pandemic, food security programs, and direction in the ancestral domains and human rights violations being perpetrated against the ICCs/IPs.

BFAR XI is among the agencies present in the 5-day visitation and consultation to different IP communities. The Bureau highlighted its programs that are beneficial to the IPs such as the fingerling distribution and scholarship program during the weeklong activity. 

Last August 5, 2020, the venues were at Talaingod and Tagum, Davao Del Norte. On August 6, the event took place at New Bataan, Davao de Oro. Then on August 7, the activity was in Monkayo and Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. On August 8 Laak, Davao de Oro, and New Corella, while Davao del Norte were the next stops of the said activities. The activity culminated in Paquibato and Ladian, Davao City last August 9.

The visitation and consultation activities ended in time for the National Indigenous Peoples Culminating Day, with this year’s theme “Katutubong Kaalaman, Sistema at Pamamaraan sa Bagong Karaniwan”. Newsline.ph
