DAVAO CITY — The second phase of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) road concreting project leading to the ongoing M’lang Airport Project in North Cotabato has been completed.

DPWH Region 12 Director Basir M. Ibrahim said that the 4.4-kilometer road construction that will provide better access to Central Mindanao’s airport is implemented in three (3) phases and has a total budget of P118 million.

Early stages of the project which involves the concreting of 1.4-kilometer of road under phase 1 and 2-kilometer road concreting for phase 2 were completed by the DPWH Cotabato 2nd District Engineering Office.

The third and final phase of the project, which will fill the 1.1-kilometer gap to the airport’s terminal building, is expected to be implemented in 2021 under the newly-created DPWH Cotabato Sub-DEO.

“Opening a new airport is crucial to Central Mindanao’s economic growth as this will increase trade and tourism activities for North Cotabateños and will be complemented by the road project to facilitate fast, safe, and convenient access to the airport”, said Director Ibrahim.
