TANDAG CITY – A landslide that hit a village in Tandag City on Monday evening left one woman missing.

Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office director Col. James Goforth, said Marly Visaya Cabrera and her husband Alger Espinoza Cabrera were on their way home to Purok Bamboo, Barangay Maitum from Tandag City when they were hit by the landslide.

An unnamed brother and his neighbors rescued Alger and brought him to the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center here.

Heavy rains brought by an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) on Monday caused the landslides that hit Surigao del Sur and other parts of the Caraga Region.

“A rescue operation is still ongoing in the area,” Goforth said Tuesday morning. – Rigine Clyr Arraz/Newsline.ph
