Major General Almerol is new Eastmincom commnader

DAVAO CITY — Major Gen. Greg T. Almerol will formally sit as the new commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) on Monday, March 8.

Almerol succeeds the post of newly installed Philippine Army Chief Lt. General Jose Faustino.

Almerol who served as the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division is now the 13th Commander of the EastMinCom. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989.

He has been serving Mindanao during the early years of his military career as Commander of the 60th Infantry Battalion based in Davao del Norte and as Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations of the 10th Infantry Division.

Almerol also served as Commander of the 903rd Infantry Brigade, Deputy Commander of Southern Luzon Command, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence of the Armed Forces of the Philippines before becoming the Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division.

The Eastmincom troop and the people of Eastern Mindanao expect Almerol as a seasoned military officer, to lead the command in attaining its vision of a peaceful, secure, and economically progressive Eastern Mindanao with integrity and commitment. Newsline.ph
