DOLE inaugurates new incubation center for Samal Island

DAVAO CITY — Another historic milestone has been achieved by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office XI with the local government of Samal, as a blessing ceremony was held for its new DOLE XI Incubation Center and IGaCoS Satellite Office located at Purok 3-B, Sitio Pasig, Brgy. Peñaplata, Samal District.

Held on March 30, 2021, the event started with a blessing ceremony of the new satellite office and incubation center, followed by an awarding ceremony for the various recognitions received by the DOLE XI and the inauguration of the Project CARESS (Caring for Retrenched Employees in the Service Sector) which is a joint project of DOLE XI and LGU Samal.

Under the Project CARESS, the establishment of the flower nursery, incubation center and flower garden aims to provide skills training and work opportunities for the displaced workers in the tourism industry which includes members of the Samal Island Cutflowers Farmers Association (SICFFA), an association of flower gardeners affected by the adverse effects of the pandemic. 

“Salamat kaayo sa DOLE, sa tanang tabang sa amo diri tungod kay natagaan mi og project nga nakatabang gyud kanamo nga nawad-an og trabaho,” Marites Borres, a member of SICFFA said.
