DAVAO CITY — Expect two women to present their cards to the public as they contest for the most coveted gubernatorial post in North Cotabato come 2022 national and local elections.

The drama unfolds as Vice Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza on Wednesday filed her certificate of candidacy as governor in the province, while incumbent Governor Nancy Catamco is reportedly filing her COC on Friday for her reelection.

Before she filed her COC, Mendoza held a press conference as she explained why she is coming back as governor.

According to Mendoza, she is not contented the way Catamco responded to the Covid-19 pandemic, she also cited the poor management of the The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Elcac is is a task force organized by the government of the Philippines to respond and raise awareness to the ongoing communist rebellion in the Philippines.

She added that the government also failed to respond to the flooding problem.

Prior to her filing of COC, Mendoza has been very vocal about Catamco’s fiscal management.

Catamco has earlier defended Mendoza’s allegations saying the later is making issues against her administration to launch her comeback.

The governor said, she is working for the benefit of her people and everything is in accordance with the law.-Editha Z Caduaya
