DAVAO CITY —The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD XI) is now preparing for the distribution of emergency shelter assistance to a total of 36,270 beneficiaries affected by the series of earthquakes that hit Davao del Sur in 2019.
Under the Comprehensive Aid to Repair of Earthquake Damage (CARED) program, 6,930 owners of totally damaged houses will be receiving cash assistance amounting to ₱30,000.00 or a total of ₱207.9 million; while 29,430 owners of partially damaged houses will be receiving an amount of ₱10,000.00 or a total of ₱293.4 million.
Aside from the cash assistance, beneficiaries will also be given temporary employment through the cash-for-work modality. The owners of totally damaged houses will be employed for ten (10) days, while those who had partially damaged houses will be employed for five (5) days with a daily rate of ₱297.00.
Currently, the Department is in the social preparation stage, where it has been working with the local government units for the master list of beneficiaries and the necessary arrangements for the program implementation, considering the restrictions imposed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
DSWD XI intends to implement the program and finish the same before the end of calendar year 2021. Aside from Davao Region, CARED will also be implemented in Region XII.
