Sara Duterte resigns from HNP

DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio tendered her resignation from her regional party the Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) this morning, said Anthony del Rosario, the party’s secretary general.

In his Facebook post, del Rosario stated ” At 9:30am today, 11 November 2021, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte tendered her resignation from Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP). In her letter to the officers and members of HNP, she states that, “It is with profound sadness that I hereby tender my resignation from our beloved party. My support will always be with you and I will always be grateful for all the things you have taught me.”

He further added “While we are saddened by her resignation, we however wish her all the best in her future plans. Godspeed po Mayor Sara. In our hearts, you will always be our Chairperson. We love you po.”

Duterte-Carpio’s resignation was handwritten.

On Tuesday afternoon, Duterte-Carpio withdrew her reelection bid as City Mayor of Davao, hours later her younger Vice Mayor brother Sebastian “Baste'” Duterte, who withdrew from his reelection bid as Vice Mayor earlier on same day, filed his certificate of Candidacy as substitute for her older sister for the Mayoralty race.
