DAVAO CITY — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified the killer of Newsline reporter Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy, and is set to file murder charges before the court tomorrow, November 11, 2021.

Dinoy was mercilessly killed inside his rented apartment on October 30, in Madre Ignacia St. Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

Davao del Sur PNP Provincial Commander PCol. Guisseppe Geralde said they will file the case against the suspect tomorrow, November 11, before the court “We were able to identify the suspect based on the testimonies of the five witnesses.”

The announcement by the PNP came just in time for the burial of Dinoy on Wednesday.

Based on the investigation, Geralde said they are still looking for the accomplice, who drove the exit motorbike’ but the suspects are still subject of police operations.

The PNP, according to Geralde, was able to trace that Dinoy’s killer is the same gunman who killed a police officer in Davao del Sur.

Asked about the motive of Dinoy’s killing, Geralde said “”The possible motive is personal grudge in relation to his blunt, hard hitting and annoying Facebook post against political personalities in the province and his reported involvement in the illegal gambling operations.”

Brig.Gen Filmore B. Escobal, the PNP XI regional director told Newsline, “We will make sure that justice will be served and we are working on it.”

Two days after Dinoy was murdered, Escobal immediately created Special Investigation Task Group Orlando Dinoy for the speedy investigation and resolution of the case.

‘Publisher’s note: Dinoy joined Newsline on June 1, 2021. He failed to mention security threat and political involvement during his job orientation and he only declared one Facebook page before the company.
