Community plants fruit trees in vacant spaces

DAVAO CITY — Responding to the call of the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) of Glan in Sarangani Province, the community planted some 200 fruit trees in the vacant spaces of their lots.

A total of 200 seedlings of fruits trees were distributed by the CENRO to various households of Barangay Poblacion during the launching of the field office’s innovation program dubbed as “Potpot (horn) Tree Program: Seedlings N’yo Po, Tara! Tanim Tayo!” on December 6.

The activity was in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Glan through the Barangay LGU of Poblacion to encourage the community to plant within their vicinity or in their respective premises or households.

Households with no vacant spaces were encouraged to plant their seedlings at mini community forest located at Barangay Calabanit which has been allocated around 300 seedlings.

The program will also be duplicated to other barangays and adjacent municipalities of Glan.

The launch was held in time for the ceremonial awarding and distribution of 17 Patents – nine (9) Free Patents, seven (7) Special Patents and one (1) Residential Free Patent, granted to ten (10) qualified beneficiaries and seven (7) government sites held at the Municipal Hall of Glan

The Environment department has encourage people to plant trees within their surroundings to cushion the impact of climate change and regreen the communities .-with CENRO PR
