Navy sets up floating hospital in Siargao

DAVAO CITY — The Philippine Navy sets up a floating hospital via BRP Ang Pangulo (ACS25) and is now serving the medical needs of the residents of Siargao’

Siargao, the used to be international surfing destination has become the ground zero of typhoon Odette (international name : Rai)

The Presidential ship, which has been repurposed as a floating hospital, started to serve the people of Siargao affected by Typhoon Odette on Christmas Eve.

The Navy and Eastern Mindanao Command composite medical team onboard is attending to the residents and fishermen from various barangays in the area who are in need of medical assistance.

In a press statement Sunday, the Philippine Navy’s BRP Ang Pangulo has provided much-needed, free medical consultations, medicines and supplements to 36 individuals wherein two were initially admitted but eventually discharged upon medication.

The timely deployment of the PN floating hospital demonstrates the whole of government approach in assisting disaster-stricken Filipinos who are still reeling from the devastation caused by Typhoon Odette.

It can be recalled that no less than President Rodrigo Duterte ordered all government agencies and including the Navy, the PNP and the AFP to maximize their resources to help the residents who were hit by typhoon Odette.
