Relampagos pushes for lone district of Samal Island

DAVAO CITY — Davao del Norte Second District congressional candidate and Lawyer Janris Relampagos is pushing to establish a lone district for Island garden City of Samal (IGACOS) saying the move will further result to economic and island-centered development.

Relampagos said “It is high time that Samal will become a district for development to sprawl and enjoy the budget which will be allotted solely for the island.”

:In his campaign speech, Relampagos emphasized that Samal being a great destination needs a devote budget to develop the island and for people to be economically empowered by further developing the existing infrastructure and establish all access from farm to market and a vibrant programs from seas to shore.

“We need an equitable and balanced program to further economically empower our people, we need to balance every development to protect the environment because Samal is rich in natural resources,” Relampagos emphasized.

As it is now, Samal is the next tourists destination for Davao City residents and its neighboring towns and provinces, it is blessed with white sand beaches and loaded with with aquamarine resources and inland tourism destinations.

Former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez supports the plan of Relampagos “If it will be for the common good of the greatest majority, I am on it, I will support it.”

For one to have a congressional district, it needs to substantiate the requirement of the law like number of people, land area and income.

If such requirement is complied, then, Alvarez said, it will become a reality.
