DAVAO CITY — The Department of Energy has recognized the clean and renewable energy (Cleanergy) of Hedcor.

The DOE affirmed HEDCOR’s compliant to Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) as participant.

The RCOA allows contestable customers to decide which electricity suppliers to source power from. The establishment of RCOA is mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA) to offer options to the end-users and grow the market.

The Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (EPIRA) established Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) as a way to offer customers more choice in their electricity supply.

Hedcor’s eighteen(18) Cleanergy facilities have received awards for complying to DOE’s RCOA reportorial requirements for fiscal year 2021. Up north in Luzon, the following hydro facilities are FLS, Labay, Lon-oy, Ampohaw, Bineng 3, Irisan 3, and Sal-angan. Down south in Mindanao, the Manolo Fortich Hydros,  Talomo Hydros, Sibulan Hydros and Tudaya Hydros also garnered said recognition.

“Hedcor is committed to providing the country with a reliable, sustainable, and reasonably-priced supply of renewable energy,” says Leo Lungay, Hedcor Vice President for Operations and Maintenance. “To accomplish this, we are upscaling our operations and processes to ensure dependable power for our customers, and in support of DOE’s Open Access.”

Hedcor is known for championing  renewable power sources, making us the Philippines’ largest operator for run-of-river hydropower plants.

Hedcor is also widely recognized as a leader in sustainable development and conservation efforts. Hedcor believes that sustainability is also about building an environment that supports human growth, development and well-being.
