DAVAO CITY — The two-year pandemic has crippled with world economy, a reason why Davao Oriental Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon vowed to bounce back by sthrengthening the tourism sector, the agriculture sector of her province and by doing a massive investment drive to lure investors to pour capital given the vast resources of her province.

Among the tools that Davao Oriental banks on is the strengthened partnerships and collaboration with the grassroots and the local government units which take a proactice stance in pushing their development agenda.

In the early days of 2023, Malanyaon met all leaders from the farthest village to the city and town officials to continuously support the effort to make their areas more vibrant in terms of tourism and agriculture “I Believe that if we continue to be together and one in our goals, we can stand together and be more vibrant as we are recovering from the pandemnic. This post pandemic season is a challenge to us to do more and be aggressive in pusing our agenda to cushion the impact of the economy as the world struggles to overcome the post-pandemic season.”

She also embarked on the local governments to collect what is due to the government in terms of taxes derived from the natural resources and from the business sector.

The Governor asked the City officials to join the province’s direction, which is now focused on programs complementing agriculture and tourism, including roads, power, and water — the necessities required by investors, tourists, and most importantly, the Davao Oriental constituents.

Malanyaon assured the officials the province’s economy will propel once the province’s tourism industry takes off ‘ for as long as everyone pitches in and participates.”

Mati City Mayor Michelle Rabat backed Malanyaon’s tourism and economic agenda with her unwavering support as her city is the center of economic and tourism in the province.

Rabat said all her initiative is anchored on the Governor’s and the provincial plan, particularly in agriculture.

Malanyaon thanked the city officials’ generous gesture while vowing that, for her part, she would do everything to beef up the province’s tourism industry.

The power and water sector are also coping to the demands as tourism influx in noticeable increasing.

The Governor suggested strict regulations, especially on accommodation and transportation, to standardize these services to best cater to tourists and ensure sustainable tourism in the growing City of Mati.
