Sultan Kudarat university confers PhD – Honoris Causa on FL Marcos

COTABATO CITY — The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Institutional Development and Management on First Lady Marie Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta-Marcos in a ceremony held at the university gymnasium, ACCESS Campus, EJC Montilla,  Tacurong City on April 27.

According to a statement of the SKSU, the conferment of the honorary degree was “for her valuable contribution to the country and to the SKSU community.”

“The honorary degree is conferred upon individuals for outstanding achievements in their field and exemplary service to their fellowmen,” the SKSU said.

The SKSU said, “the honoree is a lawyer and a professor, an advocate of education, culture, arts, and tradition. Moreover, she is always a staunch supporter of education.”

“The First Lady is one of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Cultural Council whose advocacy is to advance international dialogue, understanding, and respect through cultural exchange activities in Asia and the United States to create a more harmonious and peaceful world,” the state university said.

The first lady was also awarded as the first adopted daughter of SKSU.

The conferment ceremony was attended by the University Board of Regents headed by the University President Dr. Samson Molao, Sultan Kudarat  Provincial Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu, Maguindanao Del Sur Governor Bai Mariam Mangudadatu, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XII Director  Dr. Nelia Alibin, and Department of the Interior and ocal Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benjur” Abalos.-Taher G.
