DIGOS CITY – In a series of drug bust operations conducted by the police in Digos City, five individuals were apprehended, and a significant amount of shabu with an estimated value of nearly 1 million pesos was seized.

Despite initially underestimating the contents of a wallet they recovered, the police were surprised to find numerous sachets of suspected shabu inside.

Following the Miranda Doctrine, the coin purse of one of the suspects was searched, leading to the discovery of another sachet containing suspected shabu.

The drug buy-bust operations were carried out by the police in Digos City, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other units of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office, under the leadership of PCapt Diosdado Niones II.

The operation took place at around 7:20 pm on June 21 in Purok Rolex, Luna Extension, Barangay San Miguel, Digos City.

The operatives were also surprised to find what they believed to be a drug den at the location.

Four suspects were apprehended and identified as Niel Japhet Paloma Sode, 31 years old; Julie Ann Daradar Cubillar, 40 years old; Lester Jay Jabonero Daganato, 28 years old; and Celso Mesa, 44 years old, all residents of Digos City.

One of the suspects had previously been incarcerated due to involvement in illegal drugs but was released through a plea bargaining agreement.

The total value of the confiscated drugs amounted to 922,650 pesos.

In a separate operation that occurred at around 1:28 AM on June 22, Arnel Talabok Yap, 29 years old, from Purok 6, Barangay Aplaya, Digos, was arrested. He was found in possession of one sachet of suspected shabu and two additional sachets of suspected shabu.

The total value of the confiscated drugs in this operation was estimated at 20,250 pesos.

Arnel Talabok Yap was previously imprisoned but was released and unfortunately returned to his destructive habit.

All suspects are currently detained at the Digos City Police Station.
