DAVAO CITY –— Two (2) road paving projects completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provide better access to residents and motorists going to Batutu River Irrigation System in the Province of Davao de Oro.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 11 OIC-Director Juby B. Cordon, identified the concrete paved roads leading to Batutu River Irrigation System as the 685-meter Lagab Road – Lateral C East and the 913-meter Katipunan Road – MC East in the towns of Compostela and New Bataan, respectively.

The two (2) road projects also involved the provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and construction of other minor drainage structures to ensure safety of road users.

These roads may be used by farmers in Barangays Lagab and Katipunan to efficiently transport their agricultural products such as rice, corn, abaca, and banana, in addition to serving as handy access points to Batutu River Irrigation System.

Implemented by DPWH Davao de Oro Second District Engineering Office (DEO), the projects under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) and Kalsada Tungo sa Patubigan (KATUBIGAN) Programs has a total cost of P26.80 million with funding sourced from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
