SOUTH COTABATO – The Lake Sebu Tribal Abaca Farmers Association in Sitio Tablo, Barangay Lamdalag, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, was the grateful recipient of 3,000 abaca seeds recently, a significant contribution aimed at supporting the abaca industry in the region.

The abaca seeds were distributed to the association through the efforts of the Provincial Agriculture Office, in cooperation with the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PHIFIDA) XI. This initiative aligns with PHIFIDA’s request for 10,000 abaca seeds to aid local farmers in their abaca cultivation efforts across South Cotabato.

This donation is of the Maguindanao Variety of abaca. The program is a collaborative effort to bolster the abaca industry and provide vital resources to abaca farmers in the area. The initiative is designed to strengthen the abaca sector, a key agricultural contributor to the region’s economy.

The Lake Sebu Tribal Abaca Farmers Association expressed their gratitude for the support from both the Provincial Agriculture Office and PHIFIDA XI. The distribution of abaca seeds is expected to have a positive impact on the association’s members and the overall abaca industry in the region.
