NBI arrests suspected Abu Sayyaf member

DAVAO CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Tuesday the arrest of a suspected member of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 by virtue of a warrant of arrest for kidnapping and homicide.

In a press statement, the NBI-International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID) identified the suspect as Mohammad Maca-Antal Said, also known as Amah Maas. Said was intercepted on August 10 due to an Interpol Red Notice when he was bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It added the division discovered that Said has existing warrants of arrest.

The NBI said it found that Said was charged with the killing of two marines in Patikul, Sulu during an encounter with state forces on July 28, 2011.

The NBI investigation showed was one  of those individuals charged for the gruesome killing and beheading of 2 Marines in Patikul, Sulu during an encounter between Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Abu Sayyaf on July 28, 2011. Also, seven (7) Marines were killed and twenty-six (26) Marine soldiers were wounded during the encounter.

The NBI-IAID also discovered  Said was also charged for 25 counts of Frustrated Murder; 3 separate Murder cases; Kidnapping with Murder; Kidnap/Serious Illegal Detention; Kidnaping with Homicide; and 2 counts of Kidnapping with Serious Illegal Detention.-ezc
