Philippine Navy successfully conducts Naval gun test firing and capability demo in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Navy achieved success in its 3rd Quarter Naval Gun Test Firing and Capability Demonstration, held around 5 nautical miles southeast of Dasalan Island, Basilan, on Saturday, September 23, under the auspices of Naval Task Force 61 of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao.

This joint exercise involved various floating assets, including the BRP General Mariano Alvarez, BRP Nestor Acero, BRP Domingo Deluana, BRP Florencio IƱigo, and the 1st Boat Attack Division (BA485 and BA487).

The demonstration featured live gun exercises, swarming tactics, and coordinated maneuvers, all aimed at evaluating the performance of naval weaponry and the overall operational capabilities of the participating vessels.

The primary objective of this naval exercise was to assess and ensure the operability, accuracy, and effective functioning of all combat systems, including the skills of the gun crews and fire control operators aboard Philippine Navy vessels.
