Following the recent elections, the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) has deployed additional security personnel for Oplan Kaluluwa 2023.

A send-off ceremony was held yesterday, October 31, at the New City Hall Grounds in Barangay PeƱaplata to deploy security personnel from various national agencies. These personnel will reinforce security measures for Oplan Kaluluwa 2023.

The deployed teams comprise members from the Philippine National Police (PNP), PNP Maritime Police, PNP Tourist Police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Coast Guard-IGACOS, Explosives and Ordnance Division K-9 Unit, Task Force Samal, City Health Office, City Public Order and Safety Office, and various other offices.

Their primary task is to ensure the observance of safety, illumination, and order during the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, locally known as “Undas” or “Kalag-Kalag,” in cemeteries across the city.

The send-off ceremony was led by Mayor Al David Uy. Mayor Uy reminded the uniformed personnel to remain vigilant, exhibit patience, take care of their well-being, and collaborate to protect and preserve the island’s safety.

This deployment highlights the commitment of Samal Island’s local government to maintain a secure and peaceful environment for its residents and visitors during this important season.
