DAVAO CITY – A security guard at Toscana Subdivision in Barangay Bago Gallera, Davao City, was shot and killed by a fellow security officer early in the morning of November 7.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old James Canumay, was on duty at the subdivision when he suddenly heard a gunshot. Upon investigating the source of the sound, he was met by a horrifying sight – he was shot and severely bleeding from his head. Canumay was immediately rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), where medical staff fought to save his life. Unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal, and he succumbed to them.

The head guard on duty, Ibrahim, was the first to respond to the incident. He discovered Canumay and observed Abdul Rahmin Padasan leaving the scene on a motorcycle. Padasan was known to be associated with the victim. The police are actively investigating the crime, and initial suspicion points towards a possible motive related to a text message sent by the suspect to Canumay’s live-in partner. In response, the authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect.
