DAVAO CITY — Thousands of Roman Catholics faithful across the country commemorates Palm Sunday today by the blessing and distribution of palm to signal the start of the Holy Week and it ends on Easter Sunday.

During the seven-day commemoration, Catholic Church look back and remember how Jesus won and finally entered Israel where He was recognized as King.

During Holy Week, Christians recall the events leading up to Jesus’ death by crucifixion and, according to their faith, his Resurrection.

In his homily at the San Pedro Cathedral on Palm Sunday, Davao Archbishop Romulo Valle asked the Catholic faithful to remember “How Jesus sacrificed for us, how people betrayed Him but he forgive them, because of love.”

Valles reminded the churchgoers how Jesus was betrayed many times “He know He was betrayed, He know there was betrayal but He endured because of love.”

He wants the faithful to move forward after every betrayal and stand with love. “The pain of betrayal, when you go on and move forward knowing that you will suffer and you will die,” he emphasized.

Each betrayal must be a lesson and take a stronger responsibility “With strong faith and obedience to God.”

“That we won’t run away from our obligation as guardians, not to nail Jesus, because Jesus resides in His people, in our hearts,” he added.

During the Holy Week, the Archbishop reminded the people to reflect on our sins and remember the sacrifices of Jesus.”
