Mother-daughter killed in Cotabato ambush

DAVAO CITY —A mother and her 2-year-old daughter were killed while another companion was wounded in an ambush that took place at around 6:00 p.m. in Oblates Drive, Barangay Rosary Heights 7, Cotabato City Friday night.

Cotabato Police identified the victims as Mhadz Mamantal, Treasurer of Mother Barangay Bagua, and her two-year-old daughter Norlyn while their companion who was identified as Sadam Mamantal is still confined at a local hospital.

Residents in the area said Mamatal was driving the minivan when motorcycle-riding started to shoot them.

Unconfirmed reports said the victims just came from a bank and were on their way home when the ambush took place.

Police investigators found eight empty shells at the crime scene.
