Marcos Declares Tupi IT Park a Special Economic Zone

DAVAO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared the Tupi Information Technology (IT) Park in South Cotabato a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), aiming to draw in foreign investors and stimulate economic growth in the province.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed Proclamation No. 530 on May 2, designating the IT park as an SEZ, as recommended by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

.This designation is authorized under Republic Act (RA) No. 7916, the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995. The proclamation covers a specific area, identified as Lot 1-C-5-A (LRC) Psd-198686 TCT No. 145-2015001381, situated along the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Tupi town.

This designation is expected to attract investments, create jobs, and boost economic development in the region.

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo said the designation of Tupi IT Park as a Special Economic Zone aligns with the President’s goal to attract more foreign investors.
