DAVAO CITY — Davao City Police Office Director, Police Colonel Ricardo Bad-ang, has been administratively relieved from his post effective Thursday, May 23.

Police Regional Office XI spokesperson, Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, confirmed Bad-ang’s relief.

Bad-ang served as City Police Director for only 61 days, having succeeded Police Colonel Alberto Lupaz on March 22.

Bad-ang has been replaced by Police Colonel Rolindo Suguilon, who previously served as the Deputy Regional Director for Operations of PRO-XI.

“Colonel Richard Bad-ang’s administrative relief is based on the recommendation of the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS-XI) to our Regional Director, Brigadier General Aligre Martinez. This recommendation is due to an ongoing motu proprio investigation by RIAS-XI examining the deaths of seven individuals during police operations in Davao City from March 23-26, 2024. The recommendation to relieve Colonel Bad-ang was approved by our regional director,” Dela Rey explained.

It can be recalled that a day after Bad-ang assumed his post, seven suspected illegal drug dealers were killed during a buy-bust operation. The DCPO earlier claimed that those who were killed resisted arrest during the operation, which was captured by the body cameras of the operating police and witnessed by sectors as defined by law.
